Xbox 360 disassembley

First you will need a torx 10 and a torx 8 screwdriver and a small flathead or small pick of some sort. Just something long and skinny. Those are the basic tools you will need to take apart an xbox 360. Lets move on.

Next you have to put your finger on the hard drive button and pull up to disconnect the hard drive from the console.

Put your finger inside the USB flap and pull out to snap off the faceplate. Don’t worry it wont break so just pull enough so

it will come off.

Remove Right (Bottom) Ventilation Shield

Use small Flat Head screwdriver to release left clasp.

Use small Flat Head screwdriver to release center clasp

Use small Flat Head screwdriver to release right clasp

The ventilation shields need to be removed from the console. We will start with the shield on the right side of the console if sitting horizontally, or the bottom of the console if you sit it vertically. Push the flat-head screwdriver (or anything that will fit) into the ventilation hole as shown (might not be that exact one with your case) while pulling the ventilation shield away from the console with your hand. Once you have that done, remove the clasp on the opposite side of the console (there are three on each side).

Then do the same for the Center clasp (as shown in Figure 5) and the Right Clasp (as shown in Figure 6) until the ventilation shield pops out of the case altogether. This can be a little bit tedious the first time you do it but if you keep trying you will remove it.

Remove Left (Top) Ventilation Shield

Remove rubber pad

Use flat-head screwdriver to pop out clasp

Use small Flat Head screwdriver to release center clasp.

: Use small Flat Head screwdriver to release final clasps.

Removing the left (top) ventilation shield is a little bit harder than the bottom. First of all you should remove the two rubber pads, which will reveal one with a hole you can use to pop-out a clasp later. Make sure to keep the pads somewhere where you won't lose them as they are very small. They will simply stick back in later.

You have to release two of the clasps by putting the flathead screwdriver into the two holes that can be seen in the pictures. Push in the screwdriver and angle it toward the outer case, then you can push the screwdriver outward and you will see the ventilation shield loosening. Pull it up with your fingers. Remember, again, push the screwdriver into the hole, angled toward the outer-case and then it is in as far as it can do without resistance, push it away from the outer case and it will release the clasp.

just like before, you can use the flat-head screwdriver or something that will fit to release the claps through the ventilation holes on the outer case, only this time one of these holes will be positioned where you previously removed a rubber padding. Keep working on this until the ventilation shield comes off, then lay the console down horizontally

Then take off the microsoft sticker and unlatch the four clips on the fron of the xbox.

Turn it around and use the small screwdriver or whatever you have and pry open the 7 latches on the back. They look like this

Then remove the eject button

Once you have all of the clips undone you can lift off the bottom of the case.

Remove all six screws with your torx 10 screwdriver

Once all 6 screws are undone then youcan remove the other half of the case.

Next you will take out the dvd drive by unplugging the two cords connected to drive in the back. Then unplug them from the motherboard.

Now onto the RF module, first take off the white plastic cover

Then unscrew the 3 screws with your torx 8 and then pull from the bottom left and slide out the module.

Then pop off the fan shround by prying up on it.

When done move onto removing the fan. Unplug the cord which is on the right of the fan and then lift up on the metal casing surrounding the fan and pull out the fan.

Then remove the rest of the screws, 8 black heatsink screws and 9 silver screws.

Once all of the screws are removed then pull out the motherboard by pulling up on the heatsinks.

Then you have finall done it, it is completely disassembled
